We, and more importantly our students, would like to thank all of the individuals, companies and organisations who have helped us by donating signage, equipment, cash or their time.
Without this critical support we would not be able to operate our high-quality special needs programs.
In August 2020, Mario walked into Wayne’s Cup Café. We got talking and he asked about the work we undertake and was touched by our story. He purchased some biscotti that our students had baked and returned with his wife on a number of occasions.
Mario and Teresa’s business has flourished, and they wanted to give something back to the community, and asked how they could help to support our work at Wayne’s Cup.
We explained that sponsoring students would be a great way to help, and they very kindly made a donation, which has allowed two students to attend Wayne’s Cup for an additional day a week for a year.
We are so grateful, as are our students.
Thank you, Mario and Teresa.
A big thank you to the Meridian Credit Union on Castlemore Avenue in Markham for their very kind donation.
Eugene Chan, the branch manager, came to visit Wayne's Cup to present the cheque and see first-hand the work we do.
Eugene said that he was proud to partner with Wayne's Cup and looks forward to working together to build better, more prosperous lives in Markham. He went on to say that the Meridian Credit Union invests a minimum of 4% of pre-tax earnings every year back into local organisations like Wayne's Cup, which make a meaningful difference in the community they serve.
Shelley Daffu, our senior program manager, thanked Eugene for the kind donation and said that the money would be used to allow students who do not have the financial means to attend Wayne's Cup to join our programs.
We are so grateful for the donation we received from The Olive Branch Community Church, which has enabled us to have an illuminated sign fabricated.
This sign is vital to help to put Wayne’s Cup on the map, particularly for the café which sells fresh salads, sandwiches, paninis, cakes and cookies, all freshly prepared each day by our students in our kitchen.
A huge thank you to everyone at The Olive Branch Community Church.
Our old stove at Wayne's Cup had pretty much come to the end of its useful life and we needed to get a new one. However, with no available funds we were really struggling.
Along came The Home Depot to the rescue with a state-of-the-art GE Profile Convection Stove.
We are so grateful to Bshen Clarke and the team at The Home Depot Markham North store on Castlemore Avenue, and now our students can continue to bake all the delicious biscotti, cookies and cakes we sell in our café.
